Midway, Kentucky is surprisingly unique for a town so small. It is home to Midway University, a college steeped in rich tradition and unique in its own right as the only all-female college in Kentucky, until it became co-educational in 2016. Only a short 15-mile drive from Lexington, it is also home to one of the major thoroughbred breeding operations, Three Chimney Farms, which has produced Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup champions. Another testament to its unique identity as a small town, Midway’s local restaurants have been featured in Southern Living and the Chicago Tribune and its downtown scene is ever-growing. A small-town life might not be for everyone, but Midway is hardly an average small town.
